During what I thought would be a simple planting update, their landscape services providers uncovered compacted soil causing the standing water near our patio and used a penetrometer to measure just how dense the ground had become. They adjusted the grading plan based on those readings and recommended installing a root barrier to protect the new irrigation line from future tree intrusion. The puddling stopped after the next heavy rain, and the lawn has drained evenly ever since without us having to revisit the issue.
